NEW Facility Updates & Guidelines - in effect starting Monday, March 22

In accordance with the ND Department of Health's decision to move Cass County into the “Green Zone,” along with the Fargo City Commission allowing the Mask Mandate to expire, starting Monday, March 22, a number of NEW facility guidelines will take effect, including a change to our mask requirement.

The safety of our community remains our top priority. Learn more about the upcoming changes below:

  • Mask Policy: YMCA staff and YMCA learning center child care participants will continue to wear masks as they are now. Members and guests are strongly recommended to wear masks - especially when entering the facility, and when moving through hallways and common areas. We strongly recommend all spectators of YMCA activities to continue to wear masks when social distancing is not possible.

  • Basketball Courts: Court reservations will no longer be required.

  • Group Fitness Classes: The number of participants allowed into a group fitness or water exercise class are still limited, but we have increased the number of participants allowed into each class. Reservations for these classes are still required.

  • Fitness Center: The YMCA is continually adding more equipment back into the Fitness Center while maintaining safe distancing between equipment users.

  • Guest Passes: Members received an additional 3 guest passes at the beginning of 2021, but members may now purchase additional guest passes as needed. The Y will continue to prioritize our members and not sell day passes to those walking in, only to members.

Please continue to respect social distancing in YMCA spaces and stay six feet apart from others when possible. All other safety guidelines listed in the sections below will remain in effect – contact our team at 701.293.9622 or info@ymcacassclay.org with any questions or concerns.

Facility Rules & Guidelines

We want to keep our members safe while they use our facilities, so our teams are following strict guidelines from the CDC and ND Department of Health. We expect our members to follow the same guidelines to help keep others safe. Please use your best judgement on when you feel it is appropriate for you to return to the facility.

  • Please respect social distancing, and stay six feet apart from other members and staff.
  • Wipe down all equipment, cubbies, and lockers before and after each use.
  • Bring your own towels for use in the Aquatic Center, Fitness Center, and locker rooms/showers. Additionally, bring your own yoga mat if needed for group fitness classes. Towels and yoga mats are not available.
  • All members must follow the Code of Conduct, age rules, and Fitness Center dress code at all times.

Additional Safety Measures

  • We have added plexiglass partitions, social distancing markers, hand-washing stations, touchless check-ins, and more.
  • Our staff are continually cleaning/sanitizing activity areas and high-touch surfaces, including equipment, door handles, counters/desks, and more.
  • We have separated fitness equipment and marked off individual boxes in our Group Fitness studios to follow ND Smart Restart social distancing guidelines. We have also limited group fitness class sizes and required reservations for certain activity areas to ensure you get a great workout while staying safe.
  • We have limited capacities in activity areas and communal spaces to reduce contact as much as possible.
  • We complete a deep sanitization of our activity areas every night, including using a Clorox 360 sanitization fogger.

Nationwide Membership
We are happy to welcome YMCA members who are using the Y's Nationwide Membership to visit our facilities. Due to COVID-19, we encourage our members to call the YMCA they are traveling to in advance to make sure that facility is allowing Nationwide reciprocity at this time.

When to Work Out?
If you would like to attend our facilities at a time that will be less crowded, below is a graph showing our total check-ins per week at both facilities. 10am – 12pm and 4pm – 7pm are when there are the most people in our fitness facilities.

Still cautious about coming to work out? Due to ongoing social distancing efforts, there are fewer people in our spaces than usual. We are confident that you will be able to find a time to exercise in a less crowded environment, allowing you to keep your distance and stay safe while still getting a great workout.
