Lynette Pederson

Congratulations to Lynette Pederson, our 2021 Charles Bailly Award recipient!

The Charles Bailly Award is given annually to individuals who lead our local YMCA efforts with courage and explore the potential of doing things better.

Lynette was on the YMCA's Board of Directors in 1995 when the Charles Bailly Award was originally created. She never imagined that, years later, she would be a recipient of the award, following a long list of hard-working and passionate individuals dedicated to improving the community through the Y's efforts. Her reaction to her award shows her true character, as she was humbled, honored, and talked more about the accomplishments of the Y's team than her own.

During her nine years on the board, the YMCA experienced incredible facility growth, including the opening of the Schlossman YMCA, which launched a fitness center, climbing wall, teen area, and child care center. Additionally, she helped support strategy and fundraising efforts that allowed for major renovations to the Fargo-Moorhead YMCA (now Fercho YMCA), Camp Cormorant, and many of the child care facilities. She also had the opportunity to serve as Board Chair and held positions on the Child Care Committee and Advisory Board in her continued effort to grow the Y's mission and reach.

In addition to her volunteer positions, Lynette has found community in the Y's spaces. Over the years, she has enjoyed working out on the treadmill, walking the track, Yoga, lifting weights, and grabbing lunch in the old Marcy's Kitchen.

We are deeply grateful for Lynette! The impact of her courage will transcend generations, economic conditions, and time itself.
