Youth Sports & Activities
The YMCA offers youth sports programming year-round for kids of all ages. Whether joining basketball or flag football in the fall, or taking part in a year-round program such as martial arts, gymnastics or baton twirling, kids are guaranteed a quality experience and lots of fun!

Baseball
Rookie Baseball (Grades K - 2)

Team Baseball Clinics
A two-hour clinic providing helpful drills for coaches and players. YMCA staff will help evaluate players on hitting, fielding and pitching. For more information and to set up a time, contact Dave Harman at (701) 364-4116 or hawk@ymcacassclay.org. Cost is $100.00 per team.
Parent-Child Baseball Clinics

Baton Twirling

Baton twirling develops hand-eye coordination, poise, balance and endurance. Students also learn marching and modeling skills. Batons are available through the class. Private lessons and lessons for older youth and adults available. Contact Merrie Sue Holtan at (701) 293-9622 for more information. Classes held at the Fercho Branch. Batons are available from the instructor for $12.00. Class will be adapted for students with special needs.

Parent/Climber Class

Parents will learn belaying and safety information while kids learn how to climb. Family cost includes one parent and one-two children. For more than two children, another parent/adult must register. Includes cost of belay certification, which allows your family to climb during any open climb session.
Climbing Clubs & Learn the Ropes

Climbing Club: This club is for youth and teens ages 8-17 who would like to learn new
climbing skills and techniques.
Climbing Club II: Know the ropes? This club will challenge climbers 8-17 to put into
practice the climbing skills and techniques learned in the first class. Knowledge and skills will be tested as climbers expand their knowledge and begin climbing basic routes.
Learn the Ropes: Offers teens, ages 12-18, the opportunity to become belay certified, learn climbing skills, and climb basic routes.
Climbing Camp

This camp offers participants the opportunity to learn climbing skills, climb basic routes and youth ages 12+ will have the opportunity to become belay certified. Camp will meet four days per session at the YMCA Climbing Wall. One day each camp week, an optional trip to the outdoor ropes challenge course at YMCA Camp Cormorant is planned. Participants must register for this trip by Tuesday of their camp week. If attending the trip, please bring a sack lunch, towel, swimsuit and sunscreen.

Fitness Classes

First Fitness (Ages 2-4) - This 35-minute parent child class is designed to bring parents and children together to develop each child’s physical, social and intellectual skills. Using music, exercise and games children can learn a range of skills, including body awareness, number concepts, hand-eye coordination and much more.
Play Fit (Ages 4-6) - This 45-minute class will show kids that fitness is fun! Participants will exercise their body, refine and master basic gross motors skills, play fun games and meet new friends. We will incorporate some of their favorite story book characters in our fitness adventures!
Kid Fit (Ages 6-8) - This 50-minute class meets once per week to encourage children to be active through supervised fitness games.

Flag Football

Gymnastics

Parent/Tot (Ages 2-3, Parent/Child) - In an open gym atmosphere, instructors work on basic motor skills. Children and care givers participate together. Instructors of this program focus on activities that are fun and stimulating for children. (30 minutes)
Tuckers (Ages 4-5, Parent/Child) - An introductory class designed to develop independence and basic gymnastics skills. Child will grow to participate without a caregiver. (30 minutes)
Grippers (Ages 6-7) - Participants work on improved strength, flexibility and self-confidence, while continuing to work on introductory skills. (45 minutes - Younger participants may be progressed into this class.)
Level 1 - Flip Floppers (Ages 7+) - This beginning gymnastics class teaches skills on floor, bars and beam. (45 minutes - Younger participants may be progressed into this class.)
Level 2 - Kippers (Ages 7+) - Must show progression certificate to register for this class. (45 minutes)

Home School Programs
Fitness for Home School Families
Stay fit with your family this spring! Price includes a punch card (6 punches) for use during open swim in the swimming pool plus activity times detailed below at the Schlossman YMCA. Parents or guardians must attend with their children. Registration deadline is March 19. Passes and additional information will be mailed the week of March 22.

(Ages 8-14) This one week camp is for skaters who would like to learn new skills and practice existing skills. Camp will meet Monday-Thursday at the YMCA Schlossman Branch. Helmets are mandatory and a skatepark waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.

(Ages 12-14) The YMCA now offers a series of youth strength programs to guide youth through the fitness center in a safe and effective manner.

School Out Day Activities

YMCA staff provide structured activities for youth from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on select school out days. Activities include games in the XerZone, swimming, Playstation Gym and more! Snack is provided. Participants should bring a swimming suit and tennis shoes. Must preregister a minimum of one week in advance at either YMCA! Camp drop off and pick up is in the Fercho YMCA Social Center.
School Out Days - Ages 8 and up - Schlossman YMCA

No School? Spend the afternoon at the YMCA! Members and their friends are welcome to climb the wall, skate, shoot hoops and play “XerGames.” Add a snack and drink for the “School Out Special.” Registration is limited to 40 participants so pre-registration is recommended. A parent or guardian must sign in/out all participants and a signed waiver must be on file. Participants may not be dropped off before 12:30 p.m.

Twins Game Bus Trips
All ages are welcome to join us for a fun day at a Twins baseball game! We are ready to roll with a charter bus and game tickets included in the price. Ticket includes a hot dog and pop at the game, but participants should bring their own snacks for the bus ride and money for supper on the ride home.
