Code of Conduct

 

The YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members and guests. Conduct that does not support the YMCA mission or core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and health is not acceptable.

Be responsible - You are responsible for your behavior. If you have a concern or problem, please contact a YMCA staff person.
Be caring - No fighting, physical or verbal confrontation is allowed in YMCA programs or facilities. Refrain from abusive or profane language.
Be respectful - Intentional damage to another person’s property or YMCA property will not be tolerated. Mistreatment or harassment of YMCA members or staff is strictly prohibited.
Be honest - You are expected to be honest and professional with other members and staff.
Be healthy - Unsafe or dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. Your YMCA is a safe zone. Use or possession of drugs, alcohol, or weapons is not allowed in YMCA programs or facilities. No smoking is allowed in YMCA facilities.

Violation of these guidelines may result in suspension or revocation of membership.

Age Guidelines


Youth in the YMCA
     • Members and participants ages 7 and younger are not permitted in the  
       YMCA without direct supervision by a parent or caregiver over the age of 16.
     • No one ages 15 and under is allowed in the YMCA after 9:15 p.m. Monday-
       Thursday without direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

Aquatics
     • Participants must be 8 years of age or older to attend open swim without
       an adult.
     • Participants 7 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult
       in the water at all times.
     • We ask that parents of children under age 14 discuss the guidelines of lap
       swimming with them before participating and share a lane with their child.
     • Participants ages 14 and under will need to perform a deep end test to swim
       in the deep end during open swim times.

Fitness Center
     • Participants 11 years of age and younger - Not permitted
     • Participants ages 12 - 14 years old may participate if they meet one of the
       following requirements:
              - Must have completed the Youth Strength Training Course
              - OR Must be within arms length of a parent or legal guardian
     • Participants ages 15 and older - No restrictions.

Aquatics Guidelines

     • Please shower before entering the pool.
     • Use of inflatables is not allowed.  Lifejackets are available.
     • Swimming suits must be worn. T-shirt and shorts are not acceptable.
        Please contact the Aquatics Director or lifeguard on duty if you have a
        special situation, as accomodations can be made.
     • During Family Swim times a parent or guardian must be present and in the
       water with the children at all times.
     • Fargo-Cass Public Health Policy: All diaper aged children must wear a
       waterproof diaper while in public pools.

Fitness Center Guidelines


General Guidelines
Food & Beverages - Water in closed, plastic or metal bottles is allowed in our fitness center. Food, sports drinks, powder mixes in water bottles and glass containers are not permitted.
Attire - Shirts, shorts/pants and clean, dry shoes are to be worn at all times. Attire with embellishments that may damage upholstery and open toed shoes are not permitted.
Personal Belongings - Bags, jackets and other items must be kept in a locker. The fitness center floor and hallway are to remain clear. The Y is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Personal Training - Paid training within YMCA facilities is limited to contracted YMCA Trainers. If you are interested in these services, please ask for our current list of trainers.
Code of Conduct - Misuse or abuse of equipment, solicitation, profanity, verbal abuse of staff or any other violation of the Code of Conduct may result in termination of membership.

Equipment Use
Cardio Equipment - Time limit for each machine is 30 minutes at times when other
members are waiting to use equipment. A Keiser spinning bike is available for members who wish to stand while biking. Stationary bikes are not intended for this purpose. Please ask a Fitness Staff if you would like a TV channel changed.
Weight Equipment - Please be courteous by limiting time or letting others work through. Please set free weights down carefully and return them to racks.
• Please clean all equipment after use. Disinfectant wipes are available.
• Please report any equipment in need of repair to YMCA staff.
• Please work within your abilities and contact the Fitness Staff if you need assistance.

Fitness Center Youth Policy
• Ages 11 & younger: Not permitted in the fitness center.
• Ages 12 - 14: Must have completed the YMCA Youth Strength Training class OR
Must be within arms-length of a parent or legal guardian at all times.
• Ages 15+: May use fitness center without restrictions.

Fitness Center Orientations
• Three FREE orientations are included with your YMCA Membership. Please see the
Fitness Staff to schedule an orientation today.

The Fitness Center staff are here to serve and inform you. Please follow their
instructions and contact them when you need help. YMCA Fitness Staff reserve the
right to refuse admittance or to request individuals to leave the center at any time.

Handball/Racquetball Court Reservations

     • Courts may reserved for 45 minute time slots up to three days in advance.
     • Over the noon hour, only one time slot may be reserved at a time.  At all
        other times players may reserve courts for two time slots (1 1/2 hours).
     • Use of eye protection is recommended.
     • Courts 3 & 4 are also available as Walleyball Courts
     • To reserve a court up to 3 days in advance, please call 701.293.9622
       after 7:30 a.m. or stop by the front desk.
