Open Doors Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Open Doors Program?
Exactly what it suggests - an open door to the YMCA. We encourage everyone who wants to be involved at the YMCA to apply for financial assistance if they can not afford the cost of participation.
What types of assistance are available?
Membership Assistance is available to assist individuals and families to obtain a YMCA membership. Members receiving membership assistance also are eligible for a discount on programs, such as swimming lessons, and are not asked to pay an enrollment fee.
Child Care Assistance is available for families needing assistance for child care costs. Your child must currently be enrolled in one of the YMCA Child Care sites to qualify for this type of assistance.
Camp Assistance is available for Camp Cormorant, Camp Koda and Busy Beaver Camp. All campers are encouraged to participate in the Camp Clean Up event each year in May to assist in paying for their camp fees. Please contact Dee at (701) 364-4153 for more information. Applications for camp assistance are accepted February - August only. (Visit www.campcormorant.org for additional information.)
What will I have to pay?
Our fees for each department differ. All assistance is based on a sliding scale that takes into consideration your gross household income and number of dependents. Everyone is asked to pay a portion of the fees for any YMCA program or service.
How do I apply for assistance?
The first step to acquiring assistance through the Open Doors program is to fill out the application, which can be downloaded above.
